About Stapleton Colorado
The Stapleton area of Denver Colorado used to be the main international airport, located in the northeast area of the City of Denver. When the new DIA international airport was completed north east of the old airport in the early 1990s, most of the old Stapleton airport began a demolition and redevelopment phase, which continues today.
Stapleton Redevelopment
The old airport control tower still stands, as do most of the airport parking facilities, which now serve as a major RTD transportation hub and park-and-ride facility. All of the runways have been demolished, with much of the old concrete and rebar materials being recycled on site, and used as landfill and/or construction materials for the redevelopment project.
Real Estate and Homes in Stapleton Colorado
Because of the transportation hub and ease of access to downtown Denver, as well as the new DIA airport, The new residential areas are very popular, and demand generally exceeds availability as new home builders try to keep up. Also because of the location and demand, condo and single family home prices tend to be on the upper end of the scale for the Denver metro area.
Today, Stapleton contains a new and modernistic "Town Center" area, primarily along the Quebec Street corridor, with parks, businesses and high density condo and townhome units. Lower density single family homes are located in many other interior areas. Parks and greenbelts have been strategically placed throughout the community.
